Executive Director, The Science Advisory Board

We are seeking an energetic and creative individual to lead one of the world’s largest online communities of life scientists – The Science Advisory Board (www.scienceboard.net). The Science Advisory Board is a division of BioInformatics, LLC founded in 1997 to enable life scientists and medical professionals to help shape the development of new technologies, instrumentation and products that support biomedical research. Currently, the Board is comprised of more than 32,000 scientists, physicians and laboratory professionals from 62 countries.

The Executive Director will assume a high-profile position as our primary representative to the scientific and medical communities and work to build The Science Advisory Board’s stature and prominence. In addition, the successful candidate will execute a variety of activities to attract new scientists while ensuring the satisfaction and retention of existing members.

Specific Responsibilities:

Prepare and manage The Science Advisory Board’s strategic marketing budget with specific emphasis on recruiting and retention activities and collateral.

Direct and manage activities of the recruitment and retention staff, coordinate with other departments and outside vendors (e.g., publishers, professional societies, conference organizers, etc.)

Plan and execute an integrated marketing campaign to include exhibitions, advertising, Web, press & professional relations, direct mail and email programs.

Develop both printed and electronic marketing materials, such as brochures, catalogs, presentations and other collateral.

Interact extensively with the scientific/medical community and existing members of The Science Advisory Board.

Define requirements for new Website services and functionality.

Produce and edit original professional content for The Science Advisory Board Website and external sources (e.g., journals, trade publications, newspapers, radio, etc.).

Solicit, review and edit submitted manuscripts, articles and other content through direct contact with the scientific community.

Lend scientific/medical expertise to ongoing business development and market research activities to include proposals, questionnaire development, and preparation of client reports.

Ideal Candidate:

7+ years scientific/medical society or publishing experience in a marketing or editorial capacity.

Exceptional writing and editing skills are required, and a demonstrated interest in business and technology-related issues is a plus.

Possess a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent training in the biological sciences, medical research, and/or pharmaceutical/clinical fields.


Science Market Analyst

We have an immediate opening for an experienced life scientist (PhD preferred) with exceptional writing, analytical and presentation skills. You will take the lead in assessing a wide variety of emerging biomedical technologies by selecting topics to investigate, preparing detailed questionnaires and interpreting the survey responses of thousands of scientists from around the world.

Specific Responsibilities:

Interact with clients on special assignments and help transform their uncertainties about new scientific technologies into questions to be posed to our global panel of scientific and medical experts.

Be able to articulate in writing highly technical issues in a clear and concise manner.

Assist in developing detailed questionnaires addressing a wide variety of scientific techniques, products and instruments used in the life science industry.

Identify topics for our syndicated reports.

Ideal Candidate:

5+ years of recent “hands-on” laboratory or scientific marketing experience with a strong preference for those with an advanced scientific degree.

Exceptional writing and editing skills are required, and a demonstrated interest in business and technology-related issues is a plus.

Strong secondary research skills.

Capable of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of scientific and business analysts.
